In the beginning God (Nzambi) created a man and a woman.
The woman’s name was Ya Ndosimau. The first man and the first woman conceived a
child. Then God gave this prohibition: "If the child dies, do not bury it. Lay
it in a corner of the house and cover it with wood. After three days it will
rise up." They didn’t believe God. The child died. They buried the body. Then
God came and said: "I told you not to bury the child. You buried it. Therefore
all your descendants will be subject to sickness and death since you
transgressed against my instructions." So it is that if they had not buried the
child everything would have been different. We would have died but just as the
moon dies and later comes back again, we also would have had life again.
